At Connect Studio we blend our musculoskeletal and women’s health skills together and often we are finding that multiple areas connect together in amazing ways. We could find that the reason that you leak when you cough and sneeze is due to an issue in your ribs, and day in and day out we see how amazingly connected the human body is.

What to expect at a session at Connect Studio?

1.     Listening

We will listen to your story to try help us understand what the problem is and what goals you would like to achieve. We will ask a lot of questions about you and your body, such as injuries from the past, past surgeries, pregnancy history and what your daily activities are.

2.     Assessment

We will use the many assessment tools that we have to assess what we need to and will make sure that we assess the area of concern, as well as the rest of your body.

If your problem is pelvic floor related, then this may include an internal exam- which will be performed by our female Physiotherapist specializing in women’s health.

What we often use in our women’s health sessions is our Real Time Ultrasound machine. This allows us to look at the deeper muscles including the core and pelvic floor, to see if they are working correctly.

3.     Education

We will make sure that you understand what is going on in your body. We will also ensure you understand all the contributing factors, and how everything connects together

4.     Treatment

This may involve muscle release, soft tissue massage, dry needling, or mobilisations. We always involve some sort of exercise, and we work very closely with our Pilates team to refer you on for a one on one or group class when you are ready to do so.
