WHAT IS AN INFRARED SAUNA?

Our cedarwood Infrared Sauna from Clearlight has a number of health benefits and is a truly relaxing experience to add to your day. Upon booking, the sauna room is yours for 45 minutes. 

Infrared saunas are different to traditional saunas, they sit at around 50-65 degrees Celsius, however the air is a lot drier, making it easier to breathe. The heat produced is the same kind of infrared heat caused by the sun, minus the harmful UV rays, which is required for optimum health of all living things! It penetrates deeply into your joints, muscles and tissues, increasing circulation and oxygen flow and supporting the elimination of impurities from your cells. Infrared saunas can be enjoyed for up to 45 minutes although we recommend building up to this, starting at 20-30 minute sessions.

DETOXIFICATION

The deeply penetrative heat of the infrared waves increases blood circulation and allows the body to rid itself of toxins such as metals, alcohol, nicotine, and other organic and inorganic compounds, through sweating. This helps to restore our bodies’ internal balance and ability to function optimally.

As you enjoy the heat of the infrared sauna, your body is working hard to cool itself by pumping blood and producing sweat, which in turn burns calories and increases your metabolism.

The penetrative nature of infrared heat means that 80% of the heat is absorbed directly into the body and just 20% goes to heating the air around you (unlike traditional sauna which mainly heat the air around you). Therefore as your body directly absorbs the infrared heat, your core body temperature is raised which boosts the cardiovascular, lymphatic and immune systems, and can therefore be beneficial in aiding weight loss.

Increased circulation delivers oxygen rich blood to muscles, allowing them to recover faster, especially after a workout. The infrared heat which penetrates the muscles directly allows for the muscles to relax which in turn allows for greater flexibility and range of motion, as well as relieving muscle tension and spasms.

The deep heating from the infrared heaters will raise your core body temperature, inducing an artificial fever, which is the body’s natural way to strengthen and accelerate the immune response.
